About ISTE:
ISTE is a federally - funded and leading in technology inovation. The National Education Technology Standards for Teachers was developed by ISTE. These standards give directions to teachers on what they should know and be able to do with technology.
Purpose:
ISTE's purpose is to unite educators all over the world and engage them in improving learning and teaching through the use of technology. They publish a variety of articles and educational webinars.
Membership:
There are four different types of memberships available to people in the U.S. (non-US members pay a higher fee):
Premium: $225 "The most bang for your buck"
Standard: $105 "A great way to get started with ISTE"
Retired Educator: $65 "A great way for life-long learners to stay in touch with the ed tech world"
Student: $45 "Get connected to the ISTE network and online resources while you build your career"
Students can receive this membership for a total of four years

Each year, an annual conference is held. In 2013, it will be help in San Antonio. It is a five day conference with hundreds of sessions, nearly 18,000 participants, and emerging educational technologies.

Leadership Forum
In addition to the annual conference, ISTE also runs an annual leadership forum. This year it was in Indianapolis, IN in October. The 2013 site has not yet been released.
Professional Development:
Books
ISTE books are written by a variety of authors, all with experience and practical information to give teachers about how to successfully integrate technology into the classroom setting. Executive Summaries

Online Courses:
ISTE offers many online courses for those interested in professional development in educational technology. There is a fee associated with each course. However, if you are a member, you will receive a discount on each course. Click here for more information.
Webinars:
Leading educational technology experts tackle many concepts and issues with educational technology. Webinar archives are free for premium members but all other webinars do cost money to attend. If you are interested in learning more, click here.
Journals:
ISTE currently has three active journals: Journal of Research on Technology in Education, Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education, and Journal of Computing Teachers. All journals do require a subscription or membership.
