Multimedia Learning Principle Lessons

Multimedia Learning Principal Lesson

Below you will find a variety of lesson plans for elementary students and for staff interested in incorporating technology and Web 2.0 tools.  A short description, along with the link, and presentations are included for each.

Order of Operations - This lesson was originally designed for my fifth grade students.  However it can be used with other grade levels.  This lesson also incorporates the Universal Design for Learning, along with suggested assistive technology tools.  A presentation using Prezi and Screencast-o-Matic is used to pre-teach order of operations and can be used if you are flipping a classroom.

Below is the YouTube video I created for the Order of Operations:

Connecting Surface Area to Nets - This lesson is designed to take more than one class period.  It is also designed using the UDL template.  Students begin by classifying 3-dimensional figures, and eventually are able to build these figures, and draw their nets.  There are many interactive internet sources, along with a narrated YouTube video.

Class Dojo - I have begun to introduce technology tools
to teachers.  To make it more available for all staff, I have created three short lessons on how to use Class Dojo in a classroom setting.  Each video is designed for educators and support staff.

Simple Machines - This lesson is an introduction to simple machines.  Students watch an interactive YouTube video, practice identifying simple machines in their classroom, play an online game through Edhead, and finally create a short presentation that displays their knowledge.

Social Story - This short lesson was created to help autistic students deal with anger.  It is geared toward the younger grades (K-2) and can be used multiple times throughout the day to help students cope with anger.

Pendulums - This is a lesson on pendulums using the 5 E's approach.  Students do the exploring first, and conclusions are drawn after.  Students create their own experiments  and confirm the results using an interactive website.
